Research agency IDC has released the latest market share of PC makers in India during Q3 2018.
India PC market shipments fell 10.6 percent year on year and rose 20.2 percent quarter on quarter to 2.71 million units in Q3 2018.
Consumer PC market recorded 33.9 percent increase over last quarter to reach 1.45 million units.
The business PC market registered sequential growth of 7.5 percent to reach 1.25 million units.
Large education projects in states such as Orissa, Rajasthan and Assam drove PC demand from public sector. SMB segment and refresh buying from Enterprises also aided in the growth of the commercial segment.
HP is leading India PC market with 30.7 percent share – due to strong consumer demand in the channel and execution of state-owned education projects.
HP’s consumer PC business grew 25.1 percent and business PC segment rose 9.5 percent resulting into overall growth of 17 percent quarter on quarter. Enterprises in IT/ITES, BFSI and consulting verticals selected HP PCs.
Dell retained the second spot with 22.9 percent market share in the India PC market.
Dell’s business PC segment rose 6.8 percent resulting into 29.1 percent quarter on quarter overall growth in PC business. Key enterprise accounts in manufacturing, IT/ITES and PSUs opted for Dell PCs.
Lenovo remained in the third position with 21.3 percent market share in India PC market in Q3 2018. Lenovo’s consumer PC business grew at 63.7 percent quarter on quarter. Lenovo’s commercial segment grew 22 percent quarter thanks to demand from SMBs and enterprise accounts in IT/ITES verticals.
