The strategy of Orica is to achieve more efficiency, agility and business impact  by making investment in Cloud transformation.

Orica selected Cognizant as technology advisor and managed cloud-platform provider to develop IT platform on a pay-per-usage model.

Cognizant has implemented a managed platform-as-a-service based on the SAP S/4HANA intelligent ERP solution on Microsoft Azure. Cognizant will transition eight of Orica’s core enterprise business processes to the new S/4HANA platform in 57 countries.

Gabriela Azzali, 4S Program Director, Orica, said: “Cognizant built critical SAP systems to kick-start the program right on schedule and implemented automation processes in operations to keep infrastructure costs under control.”

“Hosting SAP S/4HANA on Azure needed a foundational design and Cognizant’s technology architects were able to create an effective technology governance model that laid the basis for this implementation,” said Sascha Wenninger – Technology Lead, 4S Program, Orica.

Cognizant Technology Solutions in October said its revenue grew 8.3 percent to $4.08 billion in the quarter.

Cognizant’s net profit for the quarter ended September 30 fell 3.7 percent to $477 million due to net foreign exchange losses in 2018, driven by the depreciation of the rupee.

Cognizant added 5,300 employees in the quarter, taking total headcount to about 2.74 lakh at the end of September. In 2018, Cognizant added 14,200 employees.

Cognizant said it expects revenue of $16.09 billion – $16.13 billion compared with the earlier estimate of $16.05 billion – $16.3 billion.
