AMD unveils strategies for gaming market

Infotech Lead America: Chip major AMD has unveiled its strategies for the gaming market.

Announced at the Game Developers Conference, AMD’s Unified Gaming Strategy addresses how AMD will drive the gaming market across consoles, cloud platforms, tablets and PCs.

AMD today said Gaming Evolved is at the core of the AMD Unified Gaming Strategy.

It has been the driving force behind the Never Settle gaming bundles and a major factor behind the adoption of AMD engines in the latest next-generation gaming consoles.

Meanwhile, AMD has introduced AMD Radeon Sky Graphics.

“Real-time gaming through the cloud represents an opportunity and AMD is poised to lead in this vertical thanks to our extensive graphics hardware and software capabilities,” said David Cummings, senior director, AMD Professional Graphics.

At present, AMD is working with CiiNow, G-Cluster, Otoy and Ubitus to deliver AMD Radeon gaming experiences to the cloud.

By working with companies like G-Cluster, Otoy and Ubitus, AMD has developed cloud gaming technology and designed a solution that enables game developers and service providers to deliver better content experience to gamers.

On Wednesday, AMD also announced that it closed the transaction with 7171 Southwest Parkway Holdings to sell and lease-back the company’s Lone Star Campus in Austin, Texas for approximately $164 million in cash.
