With the rise in mobile Internet, hackers are increasingly targeting smartphones, apart from computers.

According to the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), about 300,000 malicious programs for Microsoft Windows appear every day. An average of nearly 28,000 new malicious files was detected monthly for Google Android. In 2014, Kaspersky Lab experts detected 1,499 new malicious programs for Mac OS X, 200 more samples than in the previous year.

Many threats, such as data interception via Wi-Fi or network attacks, are increasingly targeting consumers across all platforms.

Improved security features like Network Attack Blocker for Windows prevent a system infection or data theft due to a network attack and Wi-Fi Security Notification for Windows warns users if they are trying to connect to an unsecured network.

Considering the fact that 60 percent of users are worried about spying, Kaspersky Total Security provides consumers with specific features that help keep their personal life completely private. These include features like Webcam Protection for Windows, Privacy Protection for Android and Privacy Cleaner for Windows.

With rising reports of cyber threats targeting financial data, Kaspersky has come out with Safe Money technology to protect online transactions. The feature confirms that the banking or payment website is legitimate by validating the authenticity of the security certificate. It also features virtual keyboard that prevents keyloggers from intercepting inputted information and defends against malware that can capture images from a PC screen.

To protect passwords of users, Kaspersky Total Security includes Kaspersky Password Manager, which generates secure passwords2 for the user’s personal accounts and applications, storing them in an encrypted form to protect against unauthorized access. The data is synchronized across all Windows, OS X, Android or iOS devices.

To ensure data protection, Kaspersky Total Security integrates a back-up function, either on-demand or scheduled (for Windows only) allowing users to store a copy on a local or network disk, an ftp-server or in the Dropbox cloud storage.

Kaspersky Total Security integrates Anti-Theft (for Android-based devices) and Data Encryption (for PC Windows) features in addition to traditional antivirus technology. Anti-Theft can remotely block the lost device, locate it via GPS or wipe the data stored on it. Data Encryption enables the creation of password-protected encrypted folders for particularly sensitive files.

According to information from KSN users with Parental Control running on their devices, over the last academic year 34 percent of children attempted to access sites with sexual content and 14 percent tried to visit sites with scenes of violence.

To protect children against such threats Kaspersky Total Security has introduced Parental Control for Windows and Mac OS X. In addition, Safe Browsers for iOS and Windows Phone – allow parents to select categories of sites with inappropriate web content and block access to them.

Commenting on the new features in Kaspersky solution, Justin Priestley, senior vice president, Consumer Sales, Kaspersky Lab, said, “Now more than ever consumers need an all-encompassing security solution that provides total security against today’s Internet threats. They seek the ultimate protection for their network of personal computers, smartphones and tablets.”

Kaspersky Total Security is available for purchase now on the Kaspersky Lab online store and wherever quality software is sold in the U.S. and Canada. A subscription for a 3-device license for a 1-year period is $89.95 and a 5-device license for a 1-year period is $99.95.
