CenturyLink buys security services provider netAura

CenturyLink Inc. has acquired netAura, a security services provider based in Herndon, Va.

The acquisition of netAura strengthens and enhances CenturyLink’s managed security services available to business and government customers.

In 2014, CenturyLink acquired Cognilytics, a provider of predictive analytics and big data solutions.

Founded in 2011, netAura worked with U.S. government agencies and corporations on cyber security, security information and event management (SIEM), analytics and vulnerability management.

“The combination of CenturyLink’s IT solutions and netAura’s strengths in implementation services will enable our customers to continue to meet their security challenges head-on,” said Girish Varma, president, Global IT Services & New Market Development, CenturyLink.

Last month, the US-based CenturyLink announced its enhanced Managed Security Services Suite, assisting organizations to ease the burden of managing security in-house. The managed security platform is designed to be the backbone for an organization’s security services, including preventing, mitigating and responding to cyber attacks.

According to Research and Markets, the global managed security services market will grow to $35.53 billion by 2020 from $17.79 billion in 2015, at an estimated CAGR of 14.8 percent.

Growth drivers of the global managed security services market are increase in cyber crimes and threats, need of meeting compliance and data protection laws, security staffing, and budgeting constraints on the organizations, and, increasing adoption of cloud services.
