Telit acquires ILS Technology to expand to M2M cloud services market

Machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions provider Telit Wireless Solutions has acquired ILS Technology, a Boca-Raton, FL-based provider of off-the-shelf cloud platform services connecting enterprise IT systems to M2M-enabled devices as well as machines for businesses-critical use.

The acquisition strengthens Telit’s portfolio as it helps the company integrate M2M devices with minimal application development effort. ILST services provide security and full protection of company and customer data as well as regulatory compliance.

Telit also gets access to additional value added services and customers gaining an even broader footprint in the M2M value chain. It also opens up new opportunities to expand their service offerings to small and medium M2M customers worldwide, widening the company’s market advantage.

Telit has created the m2mAIR business unit in 2012 in order to centralize the company’s value added services including connectivity. It has entered into several key partnerships in Europe and Latin America. The company also expanded in North America with the acquisition of Illinois-based CrossBridge Solutions.

With the acquisition, ILST management, engineering and support staff will be integrated into the m2mAir services unit, expanding Telit’s “ONE STOP. ONE SHOP.”

ILST’s two well recognized product lines, secureWISE and deviceWISE will remain as solutions. secureWISE delivers secure data exchange for large data volumes and is designed for tool manufacturers for semiconductor fabrication facilities (FAB), automotive, data centers, and industrial automation. deviceWISE are products rich in potential for M2M adopters critically concerned with security, scalability and integration with modern IT infrastructures.

The collective and complementary expertise Telit has amassed with its acquisitions for m2mAIR enables the rapid evolution of deviceWISE to a highly adept PaaS/SaaS-based Application Enablement Platform (AEP).

“We see tremendous synergies between our hardware and connectivity offerings and the portfolio from ILST; and welcome the opportunity that this acquisition provides us to further strengthen and solidify our presence in the M2M market,” said Oozi Cats, chief executive at Telit Wireless Solutions.
