Seagate to combine Cloud and electronic biz, Jamie Lerner to resign

Seagate Technology has decided to combine its Cloud Systems and Solutions group and Electronic Solutions group to strengthen focus on storage hardware business.

Phil Brace will be heading the new combined group.

Following the restructuring, Jamie Lerner, who has served as president of the Cloud Systems and Solutions Business Group, will be stepping down.

Seagate aims to align its hardware expertise and enterprise storage capabilities by combining its cloud systems and solutions and electronic solutions organizations.

Seagate Technology Chairman and CEO Steve Luczo said: “This is a timely strategy as evidenced by the demand we are seeing across our OEM and Cloud customers for storage technology solutions that are highly tuned for next generation workloads and deliver new levels of performance and reduced total cost of ownership.”

Seagate Executive Vice President Phil Brace, who currently leads the Electronic Solutions Business Group, will lead the new combined organization as interim president, reporting to Luczo.
