MTA–Transit build Wi-Fi network on Zebra WLAN

New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and its Wi-Fi service partner Transit Wireless have used the wireless local area network of Zebra Technologies Corporation to provide connectivity to commuters on the New York City subway system.

Transit Wireless deployed Zebra’s AP 7161 outdoor rugged access point on the WLAN connecting New York subway stations. It has also used Zebra’s NX 9500 controller to control the AP 7161s from a remote point of control. The WiNG 5 operating system of Zebra provides the access points with the intelligence required in a simple and secure way, a statement from the company said.
