The combined business unit of Dell and EMC Corp. will be known as Dell Technologies – indicating that the name EMC will disappear from the new entity in future.
How, Dell Chairman and CEO Michael Dell will not kill the EMC brand. EMC will become the sub-brand for the enterprise networking company. Dell will also become a sub brand for Dell Technologies.
Dell EMC will be the name and sub-brand for the company’s enterprise business – including products and solutions sold directly and through the channel to business and institutional customers.
Dell will be the name and sub-brand for the company’s client solutions for consumers, business and institutional customers.
Dell Technologies, new name for EMC and Dell, will include enterprise infrastructure businesses of Dell and EMC, the PC business and affiliated businesses including VMware, SecureWorks, Pivotal, Virtustream and RSA.
Dell Technologies will be a leader in the high-growth areas of the $2 trillion information technology market with complementary product portfolios, sales teams and R&D investment strategies.
