EMC storage powers KPIT to cut back up window by 60 percent

EMC has powered IT consulting vendor KPIT to transform its storage and backup and cut its back up window by 60 percent and improved datacenter team’s productivity by over 30 percent.

The storage vendor also reduced its Cloud deployment times from eight weeks to one week.

The deployment of virtual desktops on EMC’s ExtremIO flash technology is delivering energy and space savings while improving end user experience.

As part of the transformation, KPIT deployed integrated Cloud offerings with data protection with the implementation of EMC’s Vblock architecture.

In addition, KPIT deployed a disaster recovery solution on the Cloud to protect its assets. KPIT is the first company in Asia Pacific to set up a virtual desktop infrastructure disaster recovery solution.

KPIT deployed EMC Avamar deduplication backup solution that enables backups of cloud infrastructure and remote user data, reducing backup time by 60 percent.

It also deployed EMC storage replication technologies along with EMC RecoverPoint for continuous data protection for virtual desktops.

KPIT deployed EMC data protection products to protect data to ensure 100 percent availability and improve the data center team’s productivity by 30 percent.

Mandar Marulkar, vice president and global IT head at KPIT Technologies, said: “EMC has helped us to simplify IT management and reduce the management overhead of the entire infrastructure. It is due to high end technologies such as Vblock platform and ExtremIO that we can have close to 1500 virtual desktops running on a single rack.”
