Dell has launched its ISV-certified virtual workstation appliance solution, Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse.
The new appliance will help organizations such as media, entertainment and engineering firms to utilize workstation class computing with IT efficiency to achieve better data security and improved user workflows without compromising on user experience or performance.
The new appliance will leverage the Dell Precision Rack R7910 workstation with NVIDIA Quadro and GRID GPU technology, Teradici PCoIP remote workstation technology and VMware virtualization software. The Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse allows up to 3 users per appliance in dedicated GPU mode or 4 to 8 users per appliance shared in GPU mode.
Users can connect via a set of endpoints including Dell Wyse dual or quad display thin and zero clients, desktops, laptops or Dell Precision tower and mobile workstations.
The software that runs on the Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse has been validated and certified from Dell working closely with the ISV community, making easier for the organization to plan and deploy the appliance solution. Users will have a similar experience as using a traditional fixed or mobile workstation.
The Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse is an end to end solution which delivers virtualization easier to plan, deploy and run. Once the power is on the Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse can be deployed in just five minutes and can be easily managed without a dedicated IT staff or by limited IT staff.
IT administrators can provide need-based access to data and applications and centralized enforcement of security policies for easier management, better control of valuable IP and reduced complexity.
The Dell Precision Appliance for Wyse is expected to be available in the United States and select countries in May 2015. Dell ISV Partners are Autodesk, Dassault Systems, PTC and Siemens PLM.
