Cisco India brings networking products for web firms

Global enterprise networking products major Cisco on Thursday unveiled three networking products, designed and developed by its Indian arm for digital transformation of large web-based enterprises.

The Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS) 1000 Series, Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS) 5000 Series and the 5520 and 8540 Series Wireless LAN Controllers were showcased at its iExpo 2015, being held here to mark its two-decade-old presence in the sub-continent.

“The products have been designed and developed in collaboration with leading web companies to enable service providers and large web enterprises to reinvent the way in which services are built and delivered,” said the US-based technology product firm in a statement in Bangalore.

Cisco NCS 1000 Series delivers high bandwidth between datacenters to improve business agility and simplify operations while Cisco NCS 5000 Series will economically scale large enterprises to provide over the top (OTT) services among other benefits.

Cisco 5520 and 8540 Series Wireless LAN Controllers are capable of handling large number of devices and increased traffic seamlessly.

In FY 2015, Cisco spent approximately $6.3 billion on R & D, while Cisco India helped in filing 1,000 global patents in the last 20 years of which 600 patents were used for innovations across major technologies.
