CeBIT 2015: Huawei, SAP to set up innovation efforts in China and Germany

At the CeBIT 2015, Huawei announced its expanded partnership with SAP to set up joint innovation efforts in Shenzhen, China and Walldorf, Germany.

The SAP-Huawei joint innovation efforts will focus on establishing a technical collaboration between SAP and Huawei, and to advance research on the Internet of Things (IoT) to provide new solutions to market.

Earlier, they announced collaboration on SAP HANA running on SAP-certified Huawei hardware, joint contact center, big data, smart cities and bring your own device (BYOD).

“The SAP-Huawei joint innovation efforts and partnership on Industry 4.0 and IoT is marking a new milestone for our strategic alliance,” said William Xu, chief strategy and marketing officer, Huawei.

Huawei and SAP will work on integrating Huawei’s ICT infrastructure and connectivity solutions with SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP applications and analytic tools. Huawei and SAP will focus on developing agile manufacturing, smart energy and transportation solutions with SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

They will target industry verticals such as the transportation, shipping and vehicle analytics services, and maintenance and warning services industries in Greater China and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).

“Our collaboration will be based on SAP HANA Cloud Platform to create value for our customers in the era of Industry 4.0 and IoT,” said Bernd Leukert, member of the Executive Board, SAP SE, Products & Innovation.

Meanwhile, Huawei has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with research institute Fraunhofer ESK at CeBIT 2015 to jointly develop innovative ICT technologies for Industry 4.0 by leveraging their combined R&D expertise on industrial access router and 4G wireless technologies.

Both companies will research and develop Industry 4.0 solutions, comprising new ICT platforms, development work beyond 4G, as well as industrial wireless and wired communication technologies. Fraunhofer ESK will work with Huawei to transform Huawei’s advanced Industry 4.0 lab to showcase products and solutions developed by this collaboration.
