Accenture has teamed with the Madrid Health Authority in the past as well. In 2002, Accenture began working with the Healthcare Information Systems Project Management Office to implement healthcare IT in Madrid. Earlier this year, Accenture and the Madrid HealthAuthority announced the implementation of a healthcare information exchange that will host 15 million medical records.
“This contract reinforces our commitment to the Madrid Healthcare Authority and underscores Accenture’s deep knowledge of the public health industry,” said Baltasar Lobato who leads Accenture’s Healthcare business in Spain. “Accenture will apply its broad industry skills and insights from our global network to support the Authority’s mission to offer strong citizen-oriented services to increase regional competitiveness.”
In a similar announcement recently Accenture said it has helped Shanghai East Hospital with the implementation of a Hospital Resource Planning (HRP) system designed to optimize the hospital’s business processes and enhance its operating efficiency.
Accenture was recently awarded the 2013 Medical Economics Award for the “Best Contribution to Health Consultancy.” recognizing Accenture’s recent work in chronic disease management in Basque, Spain.
