NaviSite opens data center in California, selects Digital Realty

NaviSite has opened its data center located in Santa Clara, California to meet the demands of its cloud and managed services from existing and new customers.

Digital Realty will join Navisite’s fabric of nine existing data centers across the U.S. and U.K. which are designed to provide a resilient, high performance environment for business applications and mission critical data.

In September last year, Canberra Data Centers selected Digital Realty for Sydney and Melbourne expansion.

The new data center will host NaviSite’s Cloud platform and will support its portfolio of services across collocation, cloud enabled managed hosting and application management.

The data center has three secure, standalone halls with 3.6MW facility, and each hall is designed to run independently and equipped with its own dedicated power and cooling. Each of the three halls has 1.2MW primary/redundant feeds and is backed up by a primary and a shared redundant generator of 2000kW each.

All systems for each data hall are contained in separate rooms dedicated to the hall they serve. The ADA compliant facility also features new structural and seismic upgrades including a new roof and is located outside the 100-year flood area.

In order to reduce cost, improve operational efficiency and maximize capacity, new cabinet systems, Power Distribution Units and cage work have been deployed.

NaviSite employs an array of multi-tiered physical and logical security across its entire data center to ensure customers’ data and virtual environments. The security includes dual authentication access controls, biometric readers, 24x7x365 video surveillance, and security staff.

In addition, NaviSite and Digital Realty have also formed a joint sales alliance, and hence enabling Digital Realty customers to benefit from NaviSite’s suite of cloud and services located in Digital reality facilities.
