Cloud-based unified communications and contact center solutions provider 8×8 Inc has announced expansion of its global cloud communications network in Asia-Pacific. The company aims to support the needs of enterprises with multinational and follow-the-sun operations through the expansion, a statement said.
“With more and more US-based companies expanding their operations internationally, having a global cloud communications network to accommodate the growth is important. Building [such] a network is a key initiative for 8×8,” Vik Verma, the CEO of 8×8, said.
8×8 has partnered with EntrustICT, a Victoria, Australia-based provider of wholesale communications technologies to system integrators and service providers, to offer its Virtual Office and Virtual Contact Center solutions to the Australian market.
In addition, it has partnered with Equinix to establish a point of presence in its SY3 facility in Sydney, Australia. SY3 is the most densely connected data center in Australia. It has access to the global basket of Equinix with 975 network providers, 120 of them based in Australia. SY3 includes a direct link to the Southern Cross Cable Network and PIPE Pacific Cable, the only location where access to the two largest peering points is available.
With the opening of this latest facility in Sydney, 8×8 now maintains eight data center operations in five regions of the world — United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Australia.
