Hitachi builds public safety portfolio with IoT and big data

Hitachi Data Systems has unveiled a new public safety and smart city solution that allows law enforcement and public safety organizations to gather, analyze and correlate disparate video and event data in an integrated, intuitive way.

The new Hitachi Visualization was launched at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP) in Orlando. It allows law enforcement and emergency management personnel prevent and collaboratively address public safety situations.

Hitachi-data-systemsThe launch of this solution marks Hitachi’s interest towards the growing Internet of Things (IoT), big data analytics and IT infrastructure segments. The solution is an integral part of the newly created Hitachi Data Systems public safety business.

The solutions integrate HDS big data analytics and IT systems with technologies from two recently acquired public safety companies, Pantascene and Avrio RMS Group.

Hitachi  Visualization consists of edge capture devices known as Hitachi Visualization Platform (HVP) and an integrated map-based software platform called Hitachi Visualization Suite (HVS), which enables correlation of disparate data and video systems geospatially.

The solution allows organizations to intelligently collect, share and analyze information with built-in wireless networked data and video feeds.  These devices are integrated with private video feeds and are widely used in public safety systems, such as license plate recognition, gunshot detection, and computer-aided dispatch technologies.

The cloud-based Hitachi Visualization Suite aggregates this data into a common, live operating picture, providing full situational awareness to support incident management and investigations. The data can be accessed from any networked device, giving personnel the information they need at any time or place.
