The fully managed Layer 2 switching solution provides security, traffic control and PoE (Power over Ethernet).
The price of GS2210-24, 24 Port Gigabit Layer-2 Ethernet Switch, is $499.
The retail price of GS2210-24HP, 24 Port Gigabit Layer-2 Ethernet Switch with High Power PoE, is $799 in the U.S.
The GS2210-48, 48 Port Gigabit Layer-2 Ethernet Switch, is available for a price of $1099, while the cost of GS2210-48HP, 48 Port Gigabit Layer-2 Ethernet Switch with High Power PoE, is $1349.
ZyXEL Communications, a provider of broadband networking, Internet access, connected home and routing products, is targeting industry verticals such as hospitality, healthcare, business and education with the new series of switches.
The GS2210 Series features L2 multicast and IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) snooping capabilities to streamline bandwidth use for large IPTV, IP surveillance and IP phone applications in hospitality, healthcare, business and educational institutions.
In the hotel environment, for example, the MVR (Multicast VLAN Registration) function ensures better network efficiency and security for hotel guests by allowing a single IPTV multicast VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) to be shared with all the set-top boxes while the subscribers remain in separate data VLANs.
